Dahlia Policies & FAQ
Storage: Our tubers are divided in the fall, rolled in cinnamon to prevent mold or infection (plus it smells amazing!) on the surface of the tuber, individually wrapped in cling film, and stored over winter in a temperature controlled cooler. You will receive your tuber wrapped in this way, coated in cinnamon with only an external label (no demarcation on the tuber skin since it is covered in cinnamon). You can learn more about this tuber storage method from my friend Kellie at Sugar Moon Gardens: https://www.sugarmoongardens.com/blogs/articles-from-newsletters/dahlias-dig-divide-store-11-27-2024
Virus Risk: Research by the American Dahlia Society found a prevalence of virus in 87% of samples in healthy, symptom free plants. At Springbrook Corner, we follow best practices by culling any suspicious plants, sanitizing tools, and not allowing U-Pick on our farm. We do not test our plants for viruses, and cannot guarantee 100% virus free tubers. This is the reality for all tuber growing operations.
Shipping: If you live in USDA Zones 3–7, you agree to accept full responsibility for any risks that come with shipping ahead of your safe planting time. This includes potential cold damage during transit, winter storage challenges, and any other risks. I will begin shipping in March through early April - no later shipments will be accommodated. You will receive a tracking number upon confirmation of shipping. Happy to combine shipping charges if you contact me via email at kenzie@springbrookcorner.com with your order numbers.
Refunds: In the event of storage failure, you will be refunded for your partial order and/or applicable shipping charges. The rest of your order is non-refundable. We do our best to provide strong healthy tubers. If you have any concerns, please reach out within 3 days of delivery so we can make it right. If upon examination you find no visible eye present (cinnamon can obscure them), pictures and return of tubers to Springbrook Corner required.
